Job Description
Total Aviation Staffing is hiring an Avionics Technician for our client, a leading aviation organization supporting aircraft operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

This role is ideal for an experienced avionics or aircraft electrical technician who understands the importance of precision, documentation, safety, and reliability in aircraft maintenance. You will support avionics and electrical work in a Part 145 repair station environment, helping ensure aircraft are maintained in accordance with company procedures, manufacturer specifications, and Federal Aviation Regulations.

If you have experience reading schematics, troubleshooting avionics systems, working on rotary-wing aircraft, and performing high-quality aircraft electrical work, this is a strong opportunity to grow your aviation maintenance career with a respected operation.

What You’ll Do

As an Avionics Technician, you will perform avionics and electrical maintenance tasks while supporting safe, compliant, and efficient aircraft operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform assigned avionics and electrical maintenance tasks in accordance with company policies, procedures, manufacturer specifications, and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, aircraft manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Accurately sign off, record, and take responsibility for work performed in accordance with repair station requirements.
  • Maintain and use a complete set of standard and metric aircraft-quality tools required for assigned work.
  • Properly use company tools, parts, equipment, and materials.
  • Provide clear handoff notes and work progression updates when tasks extend beyond your shift.
  • Stay current on manual revisions, policy updates, and procedural changes.
  • Follow general conduct, safety, and shop rules.
  • Identify and report unsafe practices, hazards, aircraft irregularities, project delays, or emergencies.
  • Keep work areas, personal tools, and shop equipment clean, organized, and safe.
  • Communicate with the Shop Lead or designee regarding aircraft issues, schedule concerns, and work status.
  • Support additional avionics, electrical, and maintenance duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated avionics professional who can work independently, keep a steady work pace, and collaborate well with maintenance teams. You should be comfortable troubleshooting aircraft electrical systems, following technical data, documenting work accurately, and maintaining high standards in a regulated aviation environment.

This role is a strong fit for someone who understands that avionics work is not the place for “close enough.” The wiring, documentation, and sign-offs all need to be right — because aircraft do not care about excuses.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, aircraft manuals, and technical data.
  • Ability to perform avionics and electrical maintenance work in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to use web-based computer programs.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to maintain an efficient work pace.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of avionics or aircraft electrical experience preferred.
  • Experience in a Part 145 repair station environment.
  • Rotary-wing aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Previous training or experience with applicable helicopter airframes.
  • Experience supporting Gulf of Mexico, offshore, utility, EMS, or commercial helicopter operations.
  • Experience troubleshooting avionics, wiring, electrical systems, communication systems, navigation systems, or related aircraft systems.
  • Familiarity with repair station manuals, return-to-service documentation, and aircraft maintenance sign-off requirements.

Why This Role Stands Out

This is a strong opportunity for an avionics technician who wants to support aircraft operations where reliability, safety, and technical accuracy matter every day.

This opportunity offers:

  • Full benefits package
  • 401(k)
  • Hands-on avionics and electrical maintenance work

  • Work in a Part 145 repair station environment
